Roads, fatherhood

Born in Canada, hard work and the relentless intent to ride the world's great waves assigned me to places of utmost beauty.

Key encounters in Mexico led me to update my camera tools, addressing a life-long passion for photography.

From the frigid Arctic circle to legendary Mauritius island, this voyage eventually had me settle on the shores of Sumatra,

where I founded my family.

It is in raising my daughter here that my immersion began, into a unique aspect of our home lagoon where we bathed in the tide pools.

From where we swam, the same waves I cherish surfing each morning could be seen breaking on the reef in the far distance, progressing through haze and certain reflections.

Heat rising off the warm shallows can create visual distortions and refract light.

Holding my lens just above the surface, I began engaging in pursuing photographs of what is known as Inferior Mirage, this challenging but intriguing optical phenomenon, consciously framing it in composition with the lagoon's surf and daily subjects.
